Coaching terms

Last updated: 27 October 2026

These terms apply when you buy coaching from Uphill Coach, run by Ciaran McAleenan and Matt O'Reilly. Please read them, especially the medical disclaimer, before you start.

1. Before you start

Every new client completes our health questionnaire before training begins. If your answers suggest it, we'll ask you to get clearance from a doctor first.

2. Payment

3. Cancellation

4. Your 14-day right to cancel

Under UK consumer law you can cancel within 14 days of buying. If you ask us to start coaching within those 14 days, you'll pay for the service provided up to the point you cancel.

5. Refunds

6. Medical disclaimer

We are not doctors or physiotherapists. Nothing we provide is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

7. Your responsibility

Trail and ultra running carry real risks: falls, injury, exposure to weather and remote terrain. You train and race at your own risk and are responsible for judging conditions, carrying the right kit and staying within your limits on the day. You are responsible for the health information you give us being accurate and up to date.

8. Our liability

We coach with reasonable care and skill. We're not liable for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for injury that results from you not following these terms or our guidance. Our total liability is limited to the fees you've paid us in the previous 3 months. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that can't be limited by law.

9. Your data

We handle your information as described in our privacy policy.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and the courts of Northern Ireland have jurisdiction.
